Why outdoor noise makes the difference
So you and your neighbours know immediately that something is wrong. Strong doors and good locks help. But a determined burglar ultimately needs one thing: time. The longer he can work undisturbed, the greater the chance he gets inside.
The question is therefore not just “how strong is my lock?”, but: how do I disturb the burglar immediately? That works in two ways: noise outside (so neighbours and you hear it) and knowing immediately that something is wrong. Without an outdoor siren that can still sound during signal interference, you miss both.
Time is the only variable that matters
Burglars work under time pressure — unless you remove that pressure.
A professional burglar knows: the longer he is visibly and audibly at work, the greater the chance someone will respond. That is why they target homes where nothing happens: no light, no sound, no alert, no neighbour waking up.
The best doors and windows slow a determined intruder down, but they do not stop him. Given enough time, brute force wins. Your goal is therefore: make the clock work against the burglar. That starts in the garden, on the terrace or at the driveway — not only when the bedroom door opens.
That is why we combine outdoor detection with loud outdoor sirens. The sensor sees movement; the siren makes it impossible to continue unnoticed. The burglar knows: I will be disturbed here. He flees — and looks for a house where that does not happen.
Noise is the only deterrent from second one
To scare off an intruder from the first moment he is in your garden, you need noise — audible to neighbours, passers-by and yourself.
Not a silent alert that only reaches someone minutes later. Not a quiet hum from a control panel you can barely hear indoors and not at all outside.
Yet most subscription alarm systems do not include an outdoor siren. Worse still: many packages no longer even have a loud siren indoors. What remains is a soft beep from the display — nobody is startled by it, and outdoors it is inaudible.
When we install AJAX systems, we place a minimum of one indoor siren. But we strongly recommend an outdoor siren. If only one siren is desired, the indoor one can be omitted. Outdoor is much more important than indoor. For larger villas or remote properties we recommend two outdoor sirens. Additionally, we install the StreetSiren Jeweller on a daily basis, which generates 113 dB volume. The great advantage of having this siren installed by us is that thanks to our Grade 3 installation rights, we can also configure this siren in such a way that at the slightest disturbance of the signal (from 6 dB) the siren will automatically activate itself. Normal users and Grade 2 installers cannot activate this setting, which means that jamming is only noticed later than necessary and the chance increases that the siren remains silent when a jammer is used. Therefore, have your alarm system preferably installed by a Grade 3 installer who can activate this extra jamming protection. We are a Grade 3 installer.

Why G3 makes the difference with jamming
The siren detects jamming itself — not only the hub.
Detection in the siren itself.
With many systems, the jamming response depends on the hub. If the connection is disrupted, the hub can no longer trigger the outdoor siren. The G3 solves that: the siren detects radio interference itself and can sound autonomously — even if sensors and hub temporarily cannot talk to each other.
In addition, the G3 offers frequency hopping, tamper detection when pulled off, verification against spoofing and communication loss alerts within 36 seconds. Anti-tamper functions compliant with EN 50131 Grade 3.

Jamming: why the siren itself must react
With a jammer someone can disrupt the radio signal. The goal: keep the system silent while they break in.
Almost all modern alarm systems are wireless. That is practical. If the outdoor siren can no longer be triggered because of that, it does not matter how many sirens you have: nothing audible happens outside. The burglar then has unlimited time.
A reliable outdoor siren must be able to do two things: make a lot of noise and sound autonomously during jamming — even if the motion sensor temporarily cannot communicate with the hub. A monitoring centre alone is not deterrence
Without a siren to scare an intruder away on the spot, and only relying on a call centre that “calls on an alert” — is that the protection you are looking for?
Many subscription systems do not detect jamming well — you are not called then either. Without an outdoor siren and the system not responding to interference, you have nothing to scare a burglar away on the spot.

Short answers about outdoor sirens and jamming.
Is an indoor siren not enough?
No. An indoor siren does not reach neighbours outside and does not scare anyone off on the terrace. Deterrence starts outside, where the burglar can still flee without damage.
What is signal interference (jamming)?
Someone uses a jammer to block the wireless connections of your alarm. Without a good response, everything looks normal while the system in fact does nothing anymore. That is why the siren itself must be able to react.
Do all AJAX sirens have this?
Not every model is the same. The Superior StreetSiren Plus G3 Jeweller is our top model with detection in the siren itself. Always ask which model you are getting.
What is the difference between the StreetSiren Jeweller and the Superior StreetSiren Plus G3 Jeweller?
The StreetSiren Jeweller is a Grade 2 siren that we install on a daily basis and reaches a maximum volume of 113 dB. Very powerful, but with Grade 2 security standards.
The Superior StreetSiren Plus G3 Jeweller is our top model with Grade 3 security. The volume is adjustable from 85 to 107 dB — slightly less loud than the older 113 dB version — but with the highest security level: built-in jamming detection in the siren itself, protection against sabotage, LED indication and compliance with the strictest professional standards (EN 50131 Grade 3).
How many sirens do I need?
