Alarm system starter kit: what do I need?

This is our starter kit — the base we install in practice almost every time, whether you have an apartment, townhouse or villa. Hub, motion detector with photo and outdoor siren: nearly every system starts here. Optional outdoor detection (garden, terrace, driveway) is added later when the property needs it.

This is what we almost always recommend in practice. Hub 2 Plus (Wi-Fi + 4G) can be placed anywhere, MotionCam PhOD for a photo on your phone when the alarm triggers, and StreetSiren outdoors so neighbours and the street hear it too.

Why this standard advice?

Hub 2 Plus has Wi-Fi and 4G (with ethernet and dual SIM up to four communication channels): you place the hub where mobile reception is strongest, not only next to the router.

MotionCam PhOD sends a photo to your phone on alarm — just like a regular MotionCam. The difference is PhOD (Photo on Demand): you can also request a photo manually, even when the alarm is off or there is no break-in. Useful to check everything is fine while you are in the Netherlands. StreetSiren is outdoors and audible for neighbours and the street; that is stronger deterrence than an indoor siren alone.

Want the lowest entry price first? Start with MotionProtect + HomeSiren on one of the budget packages. Photo on alarm and outdoor siren can be added later.

Visible security is the first deterrent. With every installation we mount warning signs on the facade as standard — so everyone can see the property is protected, before any sensor or siren acts.

Format of your choice: A3, A4 or A5. You decide which size we mount. The colour of the signs is always the same with us.

Prefer a lower entry price?

The packages below also work, but lack 4G support, photo on alarm and/or outdoor siren. You can always upgrade later.

Smoke alarms required. Since June 2022, smoke alarms have been mandatory across Europe on every floor of the home. With AJAX FireProtect 2 you choose a detector that detects more reliably than standard FireProtect and meets EN 54 — linked to your alarm system, with an alert on your phone.

Visual verification. Combine that with an AJAX MotionCam PhOD: on detection (e.g. motion in the room) Ajax sends photos to your phone so you can quickly see what is going on — useful with a smoke or fire alert to tell a false alarm from a real situation.

In the starter kit. StreetSiren and MotionCam PhOD are already in our standard advice. The prices above help if you want extra sensors, controls or a second siren.

Control. By default you arm and disarm via the AJAX app. Optional: remote or keypad.

Every starter kit (standard and budget) already includes a separate siren. The KeyPad Combi is mainly extra convenience at the door. Having two sirens is simply better: louder and audible in more places.

Prices on this page: installation included and 2 years of service (excl. VAT), Costa Blanca & Costa Cálida. That covers the kits and individual parts listed here (indoor detection and controls).
Outdoor detection is custom: we calculate that price on site during the home visit.
Questions or support: via Ask a question or Support — not via WhatsApp. Defect under warranty? A technician visits.
At a home visit we give the price on the spot. If you agree, we can often install the same day. Advice comes from the technician — no sales pressure.
We only schedule home visits for serious interest. That means someone with years of hands-on experience in Spain: clear, concrete advice on what you do and do not need — with time to explain everything properly.
