WhatsAppOnly with outdoor detection can you prevent a real break-in.
The siren sounds, thereby driving away the intruder in your garden before the break-in has occurred.
Curtain detector
By mounting a curtain detector on the outside of the door, the siren will be activated before an intruder can touch the door.
This loud siren will chase away any intruder before anything kwa burglary has actually taken place. This eliminates the need to call the police almost immediately because no break-in has occurred, and the intruder is automatically chased away.
Curtain detectors outside the home therefore prevent a real break-in.
Curtain detector for or between roller shutters
The Hikvision curtain detectors can be mounted either between or in front of a roller shutter.
When mounted in between, the siren will sound as soon as the shutter is lifted. When mounted in front, the siren will sound as soon as someone puts a hand against the shutter.
Whichever one chooses, the siren will always sound before the window behind is forced.
If the detector is mounted in front of the shutter, the ideal mounting height is between 2 and 3 metres.
90-degree outdoor detector
This picture shows how 1 detector outside the house is used to monitor 2 windows and a door from the outside. As soon as someone walks into the orange marked area, the siren will alert the entire neighbourhood, and of course the residents, via smartphone.
The camera, also mounted, allows the owner to immediately see the intruder’s reaction. We speak from experience when we say that it will run away hard upon hearing so much noise.
Incidentally, several of our customers choose to install more than one outdoor siren. If someone unwanted walks into the garden, it’s all party time.
The same detector, but now mounted in a different location.
These detectors can monitor a distance of 15 metres at a 90-degree angle. The mounting height is always between 80 and 130 cm, with 100 cm being preferred for best results on detecting intruders.
With their all-white colour, these detectors blend in nicely with the often white walls that new-build houses in Spain are made of.
Double curtain detection
Global brand Optex has dozens of different detectors in its range, especially for outdoor use. These include this double curtain detector, which can easily monitor 15 metres per side. (In practice, we even achieve distances of 22 metres per side if required).
The distance is individually adjustable on both the left and right, as is the sensitivity.
As soon as someone walks into the orange marked area, the siren will alert the entire neighbourhood, and of course the residents, via smartphone.
Again, this mounting height averages 100 cm.

More mounting examples
Curtain detectors in front of each window or door ensure that the house cannot be touched without activating the siren.
The maximum distance to be monitored is between 2.5 and 10 metres. The recommendation is therefore to mount them per sliding door or window.
The outdoor siren is always white with a red flashing light.
This siren produces 110 decibel volume, measured at a distance of 1 metre.
If desired, up to 8 sirens can be linked wirelessly.
The Optex double curtain detector can be used to monitor multiple windows or doors as they monitor 15 metres per side.
These detectors are also ideal for securing a walk-through in the garden, by letting them watch a wall 15 metres away, for example.
When a report comes in from your outdoor alarm, you naturally want to be able to see immediately how the intruder reacts upon hearing the siren. That’s when it’s convenient to have cameras mounted in your garden.
Thanks to our fully wireless battery-powered Wi-Fi cameras with built-in solar panel, they can be mounted anywhere and require no maintenance whatsoever. Mounting can be either on the facade of your home, or in a palm tree or farther away pole.
Thanks to a bright 600 lumen built-in lamp, colour reproduction is possible at night. A microphone and speaker are also provided, allowing you to address your visitors. Recordings are retained for up to 6 months.
What does outdoor detection cost?
The cost depends entirely on your requirements. Exterior security is truly customised and for this it depends entirely on the size of your home and garden, but the shape of your home also determines the final cost. New-build homes with many right angles without much difference in height in the garden are significantly cheaper to secure from the outside than traditional Spanish construction with many steps and round shapes.
In addition, with outdoor detection, it is always necessary to mount not only motion detectors but also cameras outside. This is because you want to see what the reaction is when the burglar hears the loud siren. Normally, he runs away hard upon hearing the siren and you don’t even need to call the police. Should the intruder be malingering with the siren, you should of course contact the (local) police by phone.
Without cameras, no monitoring is possible and you are left feeling anxious if you cannot see whether the intruder has actually been chased away.
A complete system with motion detectors around your home, supplemented by a number of cameras costs roughly between 2,500 – 3,500 euros. But again, this depends entirely on the type of home you have.
