EN 50131 Grade 3 — the highest recognised security level, now fully wireless too
Many sellers talk about “professional security”, but few can back that up with an independent certificate. Ajax Systems is the only manufacturer with a fully wireless intruder alarm system certified to EN 50131 Grade 3. That is not a marketing claim — it is documented by European test laboratories. We install AJAX exclusively and are an accredited partner.
The key point
Until recently, Grade 3 in practice meant wired, complex and expensive. Ajax broke that barrier with the Superior Hub G3 Jeweller — the first fully wireless control panel with Grade 3 certification. No other brand offers a comparable fully wireless Grade 3 system — confirmed by independent European test laboratories and by Ajax Systems itself.
What is EN 50131?
EN 50131 is the European standard for intruder and hold-up alarm systems. Independent, accredited laboratories test whether equipment withstands sabotage, interference, weather conditions and targeted attacks. Only after those tests does a manufacturer receive a certificate — not based on its own statements.
The standard defines four security grades. The higher the grade, the better the system must resist experienced intruders with professional tools. Insurers, security companies and installers look at this when assessing whether a system can be taken seriously.
Grade 1
Protection against inexperienced intruders. Minimal risk.
Grade 2
Protection against experienced intruders with basic tools. Suitable for homes and small offices. All standard AJAX Baseline devices are Grade 2 certified. View the Grade 2 Baseline product line →
Grade 3
Protection against professionals with portable electronic equipment. Intended for banks, jewellers, museums and high-risk locations. Requires advanced anti-sabotage protection. What is Grade 3? →
Grade 4
Highest level, for sites with extreme risk. Rarely applied in homes.
Important: an alarm system is assessed as a whole. The system receives the grade of the weakest component. If the configuration includes even one Grade 2 device, the entire system counts as Grade 2 — even if other components are Grade 3. That is an official rule within EN 50131 and a common mistake in the market.
Why only AJAX has wireless Grade 3
For years, Grade 3 was synonymous with wiring: weeks of installation time, chasing into walls and high costs. Other manufacturers offered at most Grade 1 or Grade 2 in wireless form. Ajax invested years in independent testing until the full wireless portfolio met the strictest requirements.
The result is Ajax’s Wireless Grade 3 solution: a complete ecosystem with hub, sensors, sirens, keypads and range extenders — all wireless and Grade 3 certified. The hub needs only one power cable and ethernet; all other devices communicate via the Superior Jeweller protocol.
Independently tested
Full system tests at Testalarm (Czech Republic) and radio tests at the Czech Metrology Institute (ČMI). Certificates issued by TREZOR TEST. As an accredited partner we have access to the official certificates and can show them on request.
Grade 3 anti-sabotage protection
Anti-masking, jamming detection with automatic frequency switching across 17 channels, encrypted communication, tamper detection and loss of connection detected within 36 seconds. Read more about jamming and signal interference on our dedicated page.
Superior line
Grade 3 devices belong to the Superior line. Ajax sells and supplies these exclusively through accredited partners — not via the open market or webshops. We are such a partner. View Superior Grade 3 →
Fast, wireless installation
No cabling between sensors and hub. Each device can be mounted in about two minutes and configured via the Ajax PRO apps. Ideal for existing homes, historic properties and villas where chasing into walls is undesirable.
Grade 2 or Grade 3 — what suits your home?
For most homes along the Costa Blanca and Costa Cálida, a well-designed Grade 2 Baseline system with outdoor detection is more than enough. That is what we install every day: reliable, subscription-free and proven in more than 3,000 homes.
Grade 3 is relevant when you want the highest recognised security level — for example with a villa with large glass sections, a home with high contents value, or when an insurer or adviser explicitly asks for Grade 3. Thanks to Ajax’s wireless Superior Grade 3 line, that level is now achievable without weeks of wiring.
We determine together which setup fits. You do not need to choose components yourself in advance — that is our job as installers. Read more about our approach on the how we work page.
Accredited Ajax Systems partner
Best Alarm System is an accredited Ajax Systems partner. That means: access to the full AJAX range, including the Superior Grade 3 line, official certificates, firmware updates and factory support. We install ourselves — no subcontractors, no box-shifting.
In Spain there are no separate national licences required for private alarm systems. What matters is that your system works reliably and meets common standards. An EN 50131 certificate is the strongest proof a manufacturer can provide.
