How a loud siren stops a break-in attempt
Someone approaches the sliding door. The siren goes off — and he leaves on his own. You were not there. No police on site: the noise is enough to stop the attempt.
That is how it works in practice. With our customers we have already stopped 73 break-in attempts this way — before damage or a successful break-in.
It works because the siren is loud, the alert reaches your phone, and the system keeps working if someone jams the signal or cuts the power.
That is why AJAX — wireless Grade 3, and deliberately without a subscription.
Subscription versus AJAX
If you do choose an alarm system with a monthly subscription, you miss exactly that difference. Such a system often has no loud outdoor siren, no outdoor detection, and goes completely silent if the burglar brings a jammer. These are the drawbacks of an alarm system with a subscription — and the representative at the door does not mention them.

What the subscription seller at the door promises — and what really happens
At the door it sounds convincing: monitoring centre, police, someone who comes to check. In a real break-in attempt that certainty is often near zero: no siren that drives the burglar away, no guaranteed alert to a monitoring centre, and silence if the wireless signal is jammed.
What the subscription seller says at the door
Salespeople for alarm systems with a subscription routinely dismiss systems without a monitoring centre — and therefore without monthly fees — with one line:
“But who comes to check if the alarm goes off?”
As if without a centre nobody does anything, and with a centre the police are immediately on the way. Who comes to check is not the point: with outdoor detection the outdoor siren already sounds at one step into the garden. Every intruder runs — before they can even touch the home.
What they do not tell you
Wireless subscription systems are relatively easy to jam. If the alarm message never leaves the property, no monitoring or police chain starts. And without a loud outdoor siren — often there is no siren that sounds on site at all — the intruder is not driven off either. Noise on location is often the only thing that really makes them leave.
The illusion of security is this: people think the police always come straight away. In practice the police rarely or never come: because sabotage (jamming) is so easy, or because not all conditions are met — such as at least two sensors needing to be in alarm.
Why jamming matters now.
Every month around 10,000 people in Spain search Google for jammers or information about jamming. On camera footage we ourselves increasingly see burglars bringing such a device. Officially illegal — but easy to buy online.
Many subscription alarms are wireless without jamming detection. A jammer cuts the signal. On many of those systems the alarm then goes silent, and nobody notices.

The difference: prevention or too late
An AJAX system without a monitoring centre does have a loud outdoor siren — and often outdoor detection. That often stops the attempt outside, before anyone reaches the home. Many subscription systems only warn at the earliest when the break-in is already underway. That is too late.
“Checking on” someone who took one step into the garden and fled is different from checking on someone already standing in your living room. In the first case little criminal damage has usually occurred and the police may not even come. In the second you want police or a locksmith for the damage.
The difference is not who calls — but where and when the alarm sounds: AJAX prevents. A subscription system only warns once they are already inside — and only if the burglar did not bring a jammer and did not sabotage the signal another way. Otherwise nobody calls at all.
In Spain the monitoring centre often calls the owner first — in Spanish. If you miss that call (asleep, travelling, phone on silent, abroad), the chain stops there. And even if you answer: often two sensors must be in alarm before the police may be alerted at all. By then belongings are often already gone.
A well-known subscription brand with millions of customers says nothing about proven resistance to jamming. AJAX is the first fully wireless Grade 3 system.
