Jamming Detection: What It Means for Alarms

Most modern home alarms use radio links between sensors, the hub and sometimes a mobile path. A jammer is a transmitter that floods those frequencies so legitimate messages struggle to get through. From the owner’s side it can look as if nothing is wrong — until a real event is not reported as expected.

Vendors use “jamming detection” or “anti-jamming” to say the product is designed to notice abnormal radio noise or loss of expected check-ins. That can trigger a local warning, an app event or both. Useful — when it is implemented and tested honestly.

It does not mean the system cannot be interfered with, that police will always arrive, or that a monthly monitoring contract alone solves the risk. When you evaluate any installer, ignore the slogan and ask for the sequence:

• Do you get a clear app / phone notification that something is wrong with the link?

Is any alarm 100% jam-proof?

No honest installer should claim that. Focus on detection of interference, local deterrence and how you are notified.

Does a control room fix jamming?
